I paid a modest $5 entrance fee and ventured onto Pipeline Road, where howler monkeys serenaded me with their calls while I spotted colorful tanagers and iguanas basking in the sun.
The park is relatively small, but I enjoyed an enlightening tour with Panamzing. Our guide was fantastic, providing insight into the local wildlife while we indulged in delicious food along the way. Did you know cappuccino monkeys aren’t shy at all? They jumped onto our boat, eagerly reaching for peanuts!
We took an Uber from Panama City and hiked while soaking in the surrounding beauty. The trails were shaded, and luckily, we encountered no mosquitoes—a true blessing! I wholeheartedly recommend this park for anyone wanting a slice of rainforest adventure without venturing too far from the city.
10. Summit Botanical Gardens, Panama City, Panama

The Summit Botanical Gardens is a delightful escape in Panama City. For just $5, you can enjoy a day packed with family fun. While the gardens are beautiful, I did feel a bit sad seeing some animals in small cages. It’s a bit of a mixed bag; the place is wonderful for a day out, but I wish the animals had more space to roam. The kids loved the playground, and there are tasty snack options too—hello, hot dogs!
If you’re looking for a relaxing half-day excursion, the garden is a great choice. Just don’t forget water; it gets pretty hot. Just remember, no one likes a sweaty picnic!

Watching the Miraflores Locks in Panama City is a thrilling experience! You can catch boats preparing to go through the locks and observe the fascinating water levels changing.
Keep in mind, tickets allow you one visit only, and sometimes there’s a lull in ship traffic. Luckily, I got a close-up view of a giant ship while I was there.
Don’t skip the IMAX movie; it’s both entertaining and informative. Just know the museum was closed when I visited, so check ahead!
The food options were surprisingly good, which is always a plus, right? If it starts to rain, it might be wise to bail out.
