The Al Alam Palace in Muscat is a stunning sight with its beautiful blue and gold facade that truly shines. It’s like something straight out of a storybook, but this is real life—how cool is that?
You can’t go inside since it’s the ceremonial palace of the Sultan, but who needs permission when you can take all the pictures you want from the outside? Just be ready to strike a pose!

The Oman Dive Center in Muscat is a gem for any diving enthusiast, offering a chance to encounter striking marine life.
Can you believe the instructors are both friendly and professional? They love answering questions and ensure everyone feels safe underwater.
My kids had a blast, but let’s talk about the water situation—being bag-checked for it in the blazing heat was a bit much, right? Water sold on-site is pricey and no drinking fountains are in sight!
The beach area is chill, with an indoor pool and a beautiful view of mountains. I really enjoyed just relaxing and soaking in the nature around me.
If you want to check out some dolphins, they offer that too. It’s a great spot that my family will definitely return to—hopefully with a café next time!

Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve is a unique blend of nature and conservation. During my visit, I was super excited to spot those magnificent turtles laying their eggs. Did I mention the stars? You can see them perfectly at night, making for a romantic atmosphere, unless you’re too busy watching turtles, of course!
Our guide was fabulous, sharing facts that really made us appreciate these creatures. There was quite a crowd, though. Ever tried to enjoy a quiet moment while 300 tourists are snapping photos? I kept thinking it looked more like a turtle-themed concert than a peaceful watch!
If you’re going for the turtles, definitely book that night tour. Just remember to keep your flash off! The experience is definitely memorable, even if it’s more crowded than a bus on rush hour!
11. Marah Land Muscat Oman

Marah Land in Muscat can be a mixed bag of fun and nostalgia. It’s one of the oldest amusement parks around, but it seems to have lost some of its sparkle over the years.
During my visit, I noticed that many rides were out of order, making me wonder if the park was on a permanent holiday!
But hey, the outdoor weather during Oman’s winter is lovely, and it’s super close to Qurum Natural Park, so there’s that!
Kids seemed to enjoy themselves bouncing around, despite the aging rides. I even joked with my friends that only those over 35 would find it charming, reminiscing about childhood thrills!
While the food stalls offered some tasty bites, I can’t help but wish for some updates, especially the bathrooms. But hey, it’s worth a visit at least once for a blast from the past!
12. Wadi Shab, Muscat, Oman
Wadi Shab is an absolute gem nestled in Oman, and I can’t recommend it enough! It’s a mix of a beautiful hike and an adventure that leads to stunning pools and even a hidden waterfall.
To avoid the crowds, consider arriving early in the morning or just before sunset. Remember, the last boat back is at 5 PM! Wouldn’t want to be stuck there overnight—trust me!
Also, pack cash for the boat ride and the restrooms. And if you’re like me and not the best swimmer, don’t forget to rent a life jacket. Safety first, right?
As you venture up, keep in mind that water shoes are a blessing; slippery rocks can be quite the challenge!
Lastly, let’s keep this beautiful spot clean—nobody likes stepping over trash, right?
Happy hiking!
13. Jebel Akhdar, Muscat, Oman
The Adventure Awaits
Jebel Akhdar is nothing short of stunning, but let me tell you, getting there is half the fun!
Without a proper road, I’m convinced my SUV was auditioning for a role in a nature documentary.
Ride or Hike?
If you don’t have a 4×4, no worries! There are plenty of friendly taxi drivers offering rides up the mountain.
Just remember to haggle; I did and knocked down the price from 25 Riyals to 15—who doesn’t love a good bargain?
Breathtaking Beauty
The scenery is jaw-dropping, with lush valleys and charming villages.
Just don’t follow the wrong pin on Google Maps—it could cost you hours and dubious adventures!
Pro tip: visit in cooler months or risk turning into a human barbecue!
