Everglades National Park is like nature’s own amusement park, but without the roller coasters. Who knew a slow-moving river could be so exciting?

Did I mention alligators? Yep, I saw them gliding around like they owned the place. Fun fact: time of year matters for gator sightings, so plan accordingly, unless you want a romantic stroll with a crocodile.

Biking around the park was my favorite, even if the rental bikes felt like they were made from recycled soda cans. The scenery is stunning, and I felt like an intrepid explorer (until I started sweating!). Clean restrooms and a restaurant in Flamingo area were lifesavers, too. Trust me, don’t skip the airboat tour; they really give you the adrenaline rush you didn’t know you needed while spotting manatees and maybe even a snake or two!

On my visit, I was immediately drawn to the black and white photography on the first floor—it tugged at my artist heartstrings. But I have to admit, feeling like I was being shadowed by a guard was quite the buzzkill! You know it’s a bit overboard when you can’t even point out art to your partner without someone jumping in.

The beach can get crowded, particularly near the lighthouse, so wander a bit further for a more peaceful spot.
